The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Webster Groves Public Library was held on November 14, 2007. President Jon Furst presided, and Library Director Tom Cooper kept the minutes. Present: Library Board Trustees Angela Birke, Christine Krueger, Stacy Deleste, Tom Reedy, Peter Ruger, Liz Walsh and City Council Liaison Jeanne Kirkton. Absent: Trustee Bob Herdler.

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 8:40 p.m. (The late start was because the board meeting followed a community forum held that evening at the library.)

Public Agenda

There was no public agenda.

Minutes of the October 17, 2007 Meeting

Ms. Krueger moved to accept the minutes as written, Ms. Deleste seconded, and the minutes were accepted.


Board trustees all received an invitation to attend the Open House for the new Maplewood Public Library on Saturday October 17.

Presidentís Report

There was no presidentís report.

Librarianís Report

Mr. Cooper reported that the new computers and server are mostly installed.

Advanced Planning

There was discussion of what the boardís next step would be in planning, since there is no December meeting. It was agreed that this would depend on how soon we get a report about the ongoing Community Forums.


There was no report from this committee.

Building and Grounds

The copper piping in the house is mostly repaired. A bid to fix the front lights at the library has been accepted, and the work should start soon.


Mr. Reedy reviewed the financial report and disbursements for October, 2007. Mr. Ruger made a motion that the financial report be approved as presented. Ms. Deleste seconded, and the report was approved.

Human Resource

The library has hired a new shelver, Samantha Weiss.

Mr. Ruger took a moment to compliment Childrenís Room Assistant Laurene Franco on her courtesy and helpfulness on his recent visit to the library.

There was no old business.

New Business

Daniel & Henry has offered us an endorsement to our coverage on the #5 Mason property that would insure against damage but not theft while the property is vacant. The pro-rated premium for the rest of this year is $232.05.
